Community Engagement
Community engagement is an integral part of university education as it helps students realize the relevance of their knowledge and their responsibility as a young global citizen. In accordance to this belief, HKUST Connect aims to deepen student learning and promote a benevolent world through raising students’ civic awareness and developing sustainable partnerships with the wider community.

The community engagement initiative is designed to incorporate a range of programs, from one-off volunteer opportunities to long-term structured development programs, student-initiated projects and nonprofit sector placement. This accommodates students of varying levels of preparedness and commitment. Students connect their service with academic experiences and explore their unique roles in the community. HKUST Connect also facilitates students’ service learning experience by keeping a Community Engagement Record of students’ journey of volunteerism which may be used for their future pursuits, and providing funding for student-initiated Community Engagement Projects and subsidy to support students participating in service learning trips.
